Junior Low-code Developer

Build the future of smart energy. Develop new devices, app features and integrations for heat pumps, solar panels, batteries and EVs — used by thousands of customers.

Job description

You’ve got what it takes: you break down complex problems until they become simple, you learn fast, and you want to see the things you build actually being used.

About NextEnergy

Energy can be done differently. Fixed contracts with high cancellation fees are outdated, just like energy giants charging sky-high margins. At NextEnergy, we do things differently. Our customers always pay the current market price for energy. Is the sun shining or the wind blowing? Then our customers can save even more by running the washing machine or charging their car at exactly the right time.

And that’s just the beginning. We want to give everyone in the Netherlands control over their energy bill again. We do this not only through competitive rates, but also with smart solutions. Through our app, customers can automatically charge their electric car when electricity is cheapest, or even purchase a smart home battery.

Next up are heat pumps, solar panels and even more smart devices. As a Junior Low-code Developer, you’ll help build the app that brings all of this together.

What will you do?

  • Build flows that allow customers to add, connect and manage new devices such as heat pumps and solar panels in the app.

  • Design screens that show customers at a glance how their devices are performing and what they are delivering.

  • Create integrations with backend systems and external platforms to retrieve data from and control devices.

  • Develop back-office functionality that helps colleagues support new services.

Contribute to architectural decisions and technical solutions. A good idea counts here, no matter how many years of experience you have.

What does your work look like?

Imagine we’re adding support for home batteries from a new brand. You figure out how their platform provides data, build the integration, create the onboarding flow in the app and test it together with the team. A few weeks later, thousands of customers see the result on their phones. We test fast, learn fast and improve from there.

How we’ll help you get started

You don’t need any previous OutSystems experience. During your first few months, you’ll learn the platform and work alongside experienced low-code and .NET developers who will show you how our platform works. You’ll quickly take ownership of your own components and gradually grow into more responsibility.

Job requirements

What are we looking for?

  • A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or analytical field, such as Computer Science, Technical Business Administration, Mathematics or Engineering.

  • Strong analytical skills. You enjoy breaking down complex problems and turning them into simple solutions.

  • Some initial programming experience, in any language, gained through your studies, a part-time job or personal projects.

  • You like taking ownership, working independently and actively collaborating with others. You feel at home in a fast-moving scale-up with plenty of freedom.

  • You live in the Netherlands, preferably in the Utrecht area. Living in the Netherlands is a strict requirement.

What do we offer?

  • A team that listens. Driven and experienced. Your opinion matters from day one, even when you’ve just joined.

  • 25 vacation days based on full-time employment. Plus your Bucket List Day: one extra day off each year to finally do that one thing that’s been on your list for far too long.

  • Fresh lunch every day, for free. No more packed lunches, and our canteen is the perfect place to get to know colleagues from other teams.

  • Work out on us with Urban Sports Club. You decide where and when.

  • Travel expenses covered if you live more than 10 km away, either through an NS Business Card or mileage reimbursement. You choose how you commute.

  • Corporate Benefits: discounts at a wide range of companies.

  • Drinks and parties. A monthly get-together and several bigger events throughout the year that you won’t want to miss.

  • Know someone who would be a great fit too? Refer a top colleague and earn a bonus of up to €2,000.
